Mr. Corbett

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people, by nationality, are at present awaiting trial or on trial charged with acts of terrorist bombings in England.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

Sixteen people, all of whom are citizens of either the United Kingdom and Colonies or of the Republic of Ireland, are at present awaiting trial in England for offences connected with explosives. No one is at present on trial in England for such offences.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people, by nationality, have been (a) charged, (b) convicted and (c) acquitted of acts of terrorist bombings in England in the latest 12 months to the most convenient date.

In the 12 months prior to 7th November 1975, 30 people, all of whom are citizens of either the United Kingdom and Colonies or the Republic of Ireland, have been charged in England with offences connected with explosives. In the period 22nd October 1974 to 7th November 1975, 40 people, all of whom are citizens of either the United Kingdom and Colonies or the Republic of Ireland, have been convicted in England of offences connected with explosives. There have been no acquittals for such offences in England since 22nd October 1974.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will list the locations, and give details of the number of people killed or injured, of suspected or proven terrorist bombings in England in the 12 months prior to 25th November 1974 and in the 12 months since that date, to the latest convenient date.
