HC Deb 10 November 1975 vol 899 c401W
Mr. Tom King

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he is yet able to announce the outcome of his discussions on the problem of the Post Office Pension Fund deficit; and what guidance he has given to the Post Office on the treatment of this deficit in their forward financial planning.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

As the hon. Member will be aware, the decision taken in respect of 1975–76 has been announced. Discussions have been held with the Post Office and the unions affected on what should be done in respect of future years and a decision will be announced as soon as possible. The Post Office's financial planning necessarily includes alternative provision for a wide range of contingencies.
