HC Deb 10 November 1975 vol 899 cc501-2W
Mr. Hayhoe

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the latest annual rate of expenditure for the Manpower Services Commission, the Training Services Agency and the Employment Services Agency; and how these figures compare with the similar expenditure for the financial year 1973–74.

Mr. John Fraser

The Manpower Services Commission and its agencies are expected to spend £257.6 million in the financial year 1975–76. Details are:

£ million
Manpower Services Commission 0.8
Employment Service Agency 85.6
Training Services Agency 171.2

During 1973–74 the Department of Employment spent £33.5 million and £52.4 million respectively on employment and training services which are now the responsibility of the Manpower Services Commission.

These figures are not directly comparable. From 1st April 1975 the MSC is meeting the administrative expenditure of industrial training boards previously met by levy on their industries, and the cost of allied services, previously borne on the Votes of other Departments.

I shall be pleased to give any further information if the hon. Member writes to me.
