HC Deb 10 November 1975 vol 899 c494W
Dr. Hampson

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many visits to other countries have been made by his officials in the last few years with a view to studying developments in post-school education.

Mr. Mulley

Visits by officers of my Department and members of Her Majesty's Inspectorate in the four financial years 1972–73 to 1975–76, including those scheduled in the remainder of the current year, number 39. Meetings of international bodies have not been counted, although they, too, offer opportunities to learn of developments overseas.

Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what figures are available for the number of applicants of 16 years of age with qualifications acceptable to colleges of further education who were unable to obtain places on full-time courses for the current academic session; and what proportion of these unsuccessful applicants returned to full-time education in school.

Mr. Mulley

My Department does not collect this information.
