Member for Isle of Ely (Mr. Freud) on 17th July 1975, are in polytechnics and other non-university 494W colleges and how many are in the universities; and how these compare in each sector with the number of places in science and technology which are filled.
§ Mr. MulleyAbout 18,000 of the 30,000 empty science and technology places are in universities; the remainder are in polytechnics. In 1973–74, the latest year for which information is available, about 95,000 science and technology places were occupied in universities and about 37,000 in polytechnics.
