Mr. Blaker

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what information he has about recent scientific developments which would make the manufacture of materials for the construction of atomic weapons cheaper and simpler, and in particular about techniques involving the use of laser beams; and if he will make a statement.

Developments of this nature are of political significance in the future and we are watching them closely.

Mr. Litterick

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many British Service men were killed and wounded while on loan to the Government of Oman, during each of the last 12 months for which figures are available.
