§ Mr. Atkinsonasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement about the future intentions of Her Majesty's Government in regard to the continued use of the British base in Cyprus in the light of the Defence White Paper and the talks now taking place with NATO about the possible use by NATO of military installations on the island.
§ Mr. Roy MasonI have nothing to add to the statement in Chapter 1, paragraph 40 of the Statement on the Defence Estimates (Command 5976). No talks of the kind described by the hon. Member are taking place.
