§ Mr. Prentice:The total net recurrent expenditure on education in England and Wales in the financial years 1972–73 and 1973–74 was £2,684 million and £3.078 million respectively of which the amounts borne on the rates were about £990 million and £1,080 million respectively. Figures for 1974–75 are not yet available.
