§ Mr. Prentice:Short courses are provided by local education authorities and by a number of other agencies. One-term and one-year full-time courses, some concentrating on careers guidance and others dealing with this along with other aspects of counselling in secondary schools, are offered at some universities and colleges and departments of education.
§ Mrs. Chalkerasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what careers advice is made available for students at colleges of further education.
§ Mr. Prentice:Almost all colleges of further education offer guidance to their students, although its extent and quality 477W varies. The Employment and Training Act 1973 placed a statutory duty on local education authorities to assist students in further education in matters generally related to their careers and employment: the rate of development of these services will necessarily depend on the resources available.
