§ The Attorney-GeneralDuring 1974 my noble Friend the Lord Chancellor appointed two full-time chairmen and nine part-time chairmen and my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Employment appointed 451 part-time lay members. One of the full-time chairmen was formerly a practising solicitor; the other was a barrister and an Assistant Judge Advocate. Three of the part-time chairmen were practising barristers and one was a practising solicitor; one, a 315W barrister, was a professor of social sciences; the remaining four—two barristers and two solicitors—were chairmen of Value Added Tax Tribunals. No assessors were appointed.
