HC Deb 26 June 1975 vol 894 cc228-9W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will take steps to draw up a code of practice to be followed by police officers in order to maintain their tradition of political neutrality.

Dr. Summerskill

No. Police regulations already require that a member of a police force shall abstain from any activity which is likely to interfere with the impartial discharge of his duties, and in particular that he shall not take any active part in politics.
