HC Deb 26 June 1975 vol 894 cc226-7W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will introduce legislation to protect the livelihood of fishermen by introducing a licensing system to prevent skin divers from landing catches of shellfish, similar to the "Fishing by Diving (Licensing) Ordinance 1975" introduced by Guernsey.

Mr. Strang

I refer the hon. Member to the reply my hon. Friend gave him on 15th May 1975.—[Vol. 892, c.144.] I should add that the Ordinance introduced by Guernsey, to which he refers, applies only to the fishing of scallops and that licences issued under it are freely available to all experienced divers.
