HL Deb 10 June 1975 vol 361 c300WA
Lord HOUGHTON of SOWERBY

asked Her Majesty's Government: Whether licences are required for the export of live animals for research purposes; and, if so, how many dogs, cats and monkeys have been exported during the last year for which information is available.

The MINISTER of STATE, DEPARTMENT of INDUSTRY (Lord Beswick)

There is no export licensing control specifically related to exports of live animals for research purposes. Information about the export of dogs (other than greyhounds), cats and monkeys is not separately distinguished in United Kingdom overseas trade statistics.
