§ Mr. John SilkinMy right hon. Friend has received a number of representations from residents and local authorities opposing any extension to Skelmersdale New Town. His consultations with the local authorities are not yet complete. If, subsequently, he decides to make a draft designation order for an extension then, in accordance with the procedures in the New Towns Act 1965, a public inquiry will be held into objections.
