§ Mr. Biffenasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what assessment has been made of the ability of the United Kingdom dairy industry to supply the liquid milk market during the next 12 months; and if he will list the legal constraints which prevent the importation of liquid milk from France, 586W Eire or Holland should there be a shortfall of home supplies.
§ Mr. BishopThe United Kingdom is self-sufficient in milk for liquid consumption. Although actual production depends on weather and other factors there is no reason to expect any shortage of milk for the liquid market which is given first priority by the industry.
