§ 18. Mr. Dykesasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what representations have been received so far from the public in regard to the new consumer advice centres; and if she will make a further statement on the further development of the centres in the light of experience.
§ 32. Mr. Ioan Evansasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what further progress has been made in establishing consumer advice centres.
Mr. Alan WilliamsThe few representations I have received have generally welcomed the establishment of consumer advice centres, although a minority have questioned the need for them. There are currently about 50 centres. The pace of development is a matter for local authorities to decide in the light of their financial situation and of Government advice on expenditure on such services.
