§ Mr. Craigenasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection how many consumer councils are in being and what was the total cost of their operation during the past year.
Mr. Alan WilliamsThere are 46 nationalised industry consultative consumer councils in Great Britain. These include the councils and committees established by statute for the coal, gas, electricity and surface transport industries and for the Post Office. The provision for them in estimates for 1975–76 is £1,445,000.
