HC Deb 15 December 1975 vol 902 c485W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection (1) what is her criteria for appointing persons to represent housewives to advisory bodies;

(2) if she will list in the Official Report those persons representing the housewife on ordinary bodies for which she is responsible for appointing persons to represent the consumer interest.

Mr. Alan Williams

It is not possible to isolate members of these bodies as representatives of the housewife in particular, since they are appointed to represent the consumer interest as a whole. I do, however, consult with a great many women's organisations when considering appointments. There are at present 327 women serving on consumer bodies for which I am responsible.
