HC Deb 09 December 1975 vol 902 c164W
Mr. Evlyn King

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps she has in mind to reduce the cost of the administration of the National Health Service.

Dr. Owen

Health authorities in England are already reviewing their administrative costs in all disciplines at my request. I am also discussing with the chairmen of regional health authorities on how the NHS may best achieve maximum administrative economies and have discussed this issue with a number of individual trade unions. My right hon. Friend and I attach very considerable importance to the fullest consultation with the staff concerned.
