§ Mr. Knoxasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what a married man, with two children over 21 years of age and earning: (a) £2,000, (b) £15,000, (c) £20,000, and (d) £25,000 for a 40-hour (and no longer) working week, with four weeks' holiday a year, would receive after tax for the 41st hour of work assuming that that marginal hour of work is remunerated at the same hourly rate as the rest of the week.
