HC Deb 24 April 1975 vol 890 cc352-3W
Mr. Critchley

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will take action to remove gipsies who have camped without permission on land owned by his Department between the Frimley Road and the M3 near Farnborough, Hampshire.

Mr. John Silkin

The only land held by my Department in the Farnborough area on which gipsies are known to be encamped lies between the Old Minley Road and the M3. I am not prepared to have these families moved at present, because there is no official site for them in the area. My officials will be discussing the matter with Hampshire County Council, whose responsibility it is to provide sites.
