§ Mr. Skeetasked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what planning applications have been received for new oil refineries and for extensions to existing refineries, respectively; and what are the capacities proposed, the locations and the companies involved;
(2) of the five applications for new refineries and the four applications for refinery extensions, what dates have been set for the completions.
§ Mr. OakesLocal planning authorities do not have to inform my Department of planning applications received. The only application of which I am aware relating to a site in England is one submitted by Burmah Total Refineries Trust Ltd. for a new refinery at Cliffe, Kent, with an estimated capacity of 6 million tons per annum. Until planning permission is given the completion date must be speculative. Planning responsibility for refineries in Scotland and Wales rests with my right hon. and right hon. and learned Friends.
