HC Deb 21 April 1975 vol 890 cc238-9W
Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the total number of the establishment of social workers under directors of social work in the regions of England; how many vacancies exist, as at the most convenient recent date; and how many places are currently filled by trained and untrained social workers, respectively.

Mr. Alec Jones

In my reply of 17th April to my hon. Friend the Member for Blaydon (Mr. Woof)—[Vol. 890, c.164.]

—I was able to give provisional figures for the total number of staff employed in local authority social services deparements in England as at 30th September 1974. I regret, however, that the available statistics for 1974 do not at present provide the degree of detail requested by the hon.
