HC Deb 11 April 1975 vol 889 cc502-3W
Mr. Wyn Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Wales (1) how much land in Wales is owned by county councils and by district councils, respectively;

(2) what is the total acreage owned by each local authority in Wales;

(3) how much land in Wales is publicly owned and privately owned, respectively.

Mr. John Morris

This information is not available and could not be obtained without disproportionate cost.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the total acreage owned in Wales by public bodies including the Crown, Government Departments, Forestry Commission, National Coal Board, British Railways, etc.

Mr. John Morris

Details of the land holdings of every public body in Wales are not readily available. The estimated land holdings in Wales of the Ministry of Defence and Forestry Commission, two of the major landowners, are 52,000 and 396,000 acres, respectively.
