HC Deb 25 November 1974 vol 882 c78W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will give consideration to the dental needs of severely handicapped persons; if she will consider either the establishment of special centres or making special provision with certain dentists to provide for the dental needs of such persons; and if she will make a statement.

Dr. Owen

Many severely handicapped adults and children are able to obtain dental treatment through the hospital and general dental services, and health authorities may make special arrangements for handicapped children through the school dental service. I am at present considering the question of dental care for severely handicapped adults who may have difficulty in obtaining treatment and I will bear in mind my hon. Friend's suggestions.
