§ Mr. Andersonasked the Secretary of State for Wales how many local authorities in Wales have satisfied their public sector housing needs; and what percentage of all public sector housing needs in Wales has been met.
§ Mr. John MorrisNone. All authorities in Wales are faced with an urgent need to build more houses; but it is not possible to make a meaningful percentage estimate of precise needs.
§ Mr. Andersonasked the Secretary of State for Wales what progress has been made by Welsh local authorities on estimating and surveying housing needs for the next five years; and if it is his intention to publish the figures when available.
§ Mr. John MorrisMy hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State has, during his visits to all housing authorities in Wales, requested each authority urgently to assess its housing need. I have arranged for a second housing conference to take place in North Wales in early December and thereafter I shall be asking authorities to quantify their plans for a regular programme of house building. I shall certainly consider whether to publish the figures when they become available.
