HC Deb 14 November 1974 vol 881 c240W
Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if she will use her powers under Section 2 of the Prices Act 1974 to fix the price of sugar, in order to reduce profiteering in sugar sales and hoarding by the distributors; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. Maclennan

There are no plans at present to do so. All allegations of overcharging are investigated by the Price Commission, and we have no evidence of sugar hoarding by distributors.
