HC Deb 14 November 1974 vol 881 cc239-40W
Mr. Ronald Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection, in view of the recent fire in a Government establishment where a store containing polyurethane foam was gutted, resulting in the death of two firemen, if she will now make it her policy to treat polymeric materials as being as dangerous as other combustibles found in the home.

Mr. Alan Williams

I intend to review the degree of hazard presented by polymeric materials in the home, in the light of the findings of current research being carried out by the Rubber and Plastics Research Association. If the detailed report on the recent tragic fire to which my hon. Friend refers reveals any new information, this will be taken into account.
