§ 19. Mr. Ioan Evansasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether the new mobility allowances for handicapped people will be extended to severely handicapped children including the children affected by thalidomide; and, if so, what criteria will determine eligibility.
§ 28. Mr. Greville Jannerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services when she intends to introduce the proposed mobility allowance for eligible children aged 5 to 10 and over 10 years, respectively.
§ Mr. Alfred MorrisAs indicated in the statement issued by my right hon. Friend on 13th September, children who are severely handicapped in respect of mobility will be among the categories 53W eligible for the new allowance. The details of criteria for eligibility, and possible stages for the phasing in of the allowance, are being considered. Proposals will be submitted to the House as soon as possible.
