asked the Secretary of State for Energy if North Sea oil is easily refined for producing middle distillates.

Mr. Strang

Yes. The middle distillate content of North Sea oil is not dissimilar from the average of crude oils currently imported into the United Kingdom. The percentage by weight in each case is as follows:

Current imports … 13.7 20.2
