asked the Secretary of State for Energy what estimates he has made of the effect on prices charged to the consumer of the decision of the CEGB to write off capital equipment over a period of 25 years rather than 30 years.

None. CEGB has a statutory responsibility to make proper provision for depreciation and it is for the board to decide how this should be met.
