§ Mr. Trotterasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the average number of driving licences issued each month by the central issuing office and the percentage of such licences which are issued within the following period after receipt of the applications: (a) one week, (b) two weeks, (c) three weeks, (d) four weeks and (e) more than four weeks.
§ Mr. Carmichael1 regret that figures are not available in this form. 699,398 licences were issued in March 1974 and 779,041 in April 1974. During these two months 34.4 per cent. of licences was issued within one week of receipt of the application and a further 62.8 per cent. within two weeks. 0.5 per cent. took longer than five weeks. These figures exclude time taken in medical inquiries.
