HC Deb 24 May 1974 vol 874 c375W
Mr. Grist

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is satisfied that sufficient publicity is made available to members of the public under Section 26(2)(a) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1971 when (1) more than one local newspaper circulates in the locality and (2) there is a low readership of any local newspaper in the area affected by an application for planning permission

Mr. John Silkin

I am not aware of any widespread feeling that this particular requirement is insufficient. Mr. George Dobry, QC, is looking at the arrangements for publicity for planning applications as part of his review of the development control system.
