HC Deb 24 May 1974 vol 874 cc367-8W
Mr. George Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment why the Metropolitan Police flats in Charles Rowan House, Islington, have been allocated to the Greater London Council rather than to Islington Borough Council; and why there has been a delay in processing the property through the Redundant Lands List since they were declared redundant by the police in January.

Mr. Freeson

Charles Rowan House has not yet been allocated either to the Greater London Council or the London borough of Islington; and I regret that my hon. Friend was previously misinformed. Both authorities have, however, registered an interest in the property for housing purposes and if agreement cannot be reached between them as to which should acquire it, my right hon. Friend will have to decide the issue, taking into account all relevant factors. I am looking into this matter urgently.
