HC Deb 24 May 1974 vol 874 c367W
Mr. Adam Butler

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he is satisfied with the waiting times for driving tests at the Burton-on-Trent and Leicester centres; and what steps he intends to take to reduce these times.

Mr. Carmichael

No, but waiting times cannot be reduced at a stroke. Present staffing arrangements at these centres and in the area generally are, however, designed to reduce waiting times to more acceptable levels over a reasonable period, having regard to expected demand. As I told the hon. Member on 20th May—[Vol. 873, c.59]— complements are kept under review.
