asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied with the provisions for the detentor

are men; how many are women; how long the process has continued in each case; and if he will make a statement.

On 22nd May two male prisoners in England and Wales were being compulsorily fed by artificial means. One has been so fed since 3rd December and the other since 10th December 1973. Two others have been on hunger strike since 30th March and have been artificially fed intermittently but are not being so fed at the moment. Each individual is subject to careful and continuous medical supervision.
