following estimates are taken from the New Earnings Survey and relate to April of each year. They show for full-time men aged 21 and over and women aged 18 and over in Great Britain whose pay for the particular survey reference period was not affected by absence (a) average gross weekly earnings; (b) lower quartile earnings (the weekly earnings of one-quarter of the employees were below this amount); (c) upper quartile earnings (the weekly earnings of one-quarter of the employees were above this amount).
