HC Deb 22 May 1974 vol 874 cc187-8W
Sir D. Walker-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what reply he has sent to the letter dated 9th May from the Hertfordshire County Council in regard to the proposed expansion of Stevenage; and if he will ensure that there is continuous consultation in this matter with the county council in its role of local planning authority with statutory responsibility for the preparation of a structure plan.

Mr. John Silkin

I am sending the right hon. and learned Member a copy of the reply which has been sent to the Hertfordshire County Council. I share his view that there should be full consultation between the Stevenage Development Corporation and the county council, and I am satisfied that the development corporation will do all it can to achieve this. But it must be for the corporation to make the running on proposals for expansion.
