Gas and Oil Reserves

Mr. Pardoe

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what proportion of gross domestic product the Government plan to commit to the development of Great Britain's gas and oil reserves in the next five years.

Forecasts of gross domestic products are not available and I cannot therefore give the figures for which the hon. Member asks.

Mr. Pardoe

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if his Department will publish a strategic plan for the development of British oil and gas reserves.

Mr. Strang

My right hon. Friend has no plans for such a publication. However, the hon. Member will be aware of the 1974 report on production and reserves, published today, and of my right hon. Friend's intention to make a statement to the House when the current policy review is complete.
