HC Deb 26 March 1974 vol 871 cc115-6W
Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland which schools in Dundee are understaffed; and what is the extent of the problem in each case.

Mr. William Ross

The education authority is best able to provide detailed information of this kind.

At September 1973, the latest date for which I have figures, no primary schools in Dundee had less than the minimum complement of teachers prescribed in regulations. There are at present no prescribed complements for secondary schools; but at September 1973 the overall pupil-teacher ratio of 15.5:1 in secondary schools in Dundee compared favourably with the national ratio of 16.0:1.
