HC Deb 28 June 1974 vol 875 cc46-7W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether more medical rehabilitation demonstration centres are to be designated.

Mr. Alfred Morris

Another 10 demonstration centres have been selected from nominations made by health authorities. These are Addenhrooke's Hospital, Cambridge; Crawley District General Hospital; the Dryburn Hospital, Durham, together with Middlesbrough General Hospital; Garston Manor Medical Rehabilitation Centre linked with the Middlesex Hospital; Guy's Hospital; King's College Hospital; the London Hospital; the Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Camden Road, linked with University College Hospital; the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry; the Royal East Sussex Hospital, Hastings.

The task of selection was not by any means easy. This is an encouraging reflection of the quality of the services that are emerging, and we look to those hospitals which have not been designated to continue to improve and develop their rehabilitation services so that eventually we may achieve a national network of first-class facilities.
