HC Deb 27 June 1974 vol 875 cc540-1W
Mr. Trotter

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what is the total of British aid in the last 10 years and in 1973 to (a) India, (b) Nigeria and (c) Arab countries.

Mrs. Hart

The information requested is as follows:

make a statement on the recent financial talks with the Government of Malawi.

Mr. Arnold Shaw

asked the Minister of Overseas Development if she will make a statement on the recent financial talks with the Government of Malawi.

Mrs. Hart

The British Government's current commitment of capital aid to Malawi expires at the end of this financial year and the purpose of the talks was to discuss the British aid programme in Malawi and to settle the provision of further aid.

We propose to provide the Government of Malawi with not less than£15 million and not more than£18 million for the triennium 1975–76 to 1977–78 depending on the extent to which Malawi benefits from the European Development Fund's aid if she becomes an EEC associate.
