§ Mr. Roderickasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, as part of his review of the operation of the Water Act 1973, he will consider the desirability of introducing a standard water rate for the whole of the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Denis HowellMy right hon. Friends will of course consider any suggestions they receive about water charges, although under existing legislation it would not, I am advised, be possible to require the levy of a uniform national water rate.
