asked the Secretary of State for Wales what was the sum expended by the Welsh Office on newspaper advertising in Wales in 1973 in the Welsh and English languages respectively.

Mr. John Morris

£12,637, of which £9,710 and £2,927 was spent on English and Welsh language advertising respectively.

A further £48,000 and £3,000 was spent on English and Welsh language advertising respectively by the Central Office of Information on behalf of the Welsh Office and other Government Departments to publicise national campaigns in Wales.
