asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how much under strength are the Liverpool and Bootle Constabulary and the Lancashire Constabulary.

As a result of local government reorganisation, Liverpool and Bootle are now policed by the Merseyside Police, which on 30th April 1974 had 447 vacancies; on the same date the Lancashire Constabulary had 123 vacancies.
