HC Deb 19 June 1974 vol 875 c191W
Mr. Ronald Atkins

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, in giving planning consents, he will take account of the bias in favour of golf courses as compared with football pitches shown in the plans of the Central Lancashire New Town, and take steps designed to encourage association football in the area.

Mr. Oakes

I shall consider the whole question of policies for leisure and recreation in the Central Lancashire New Town after I have received the inspector's report on the forthcoming outline plan public inquiry.

Mr. Thorne

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will defer the public hearing on the outline plan submitted by the Central Lancashire Development Corporation scheduled to start on 17th September 1974, in view of the lack of time the public in the area will have to consider the outline plan in detail.

Mr. Oakes

No. The publication by the Central Lancashire Development Corporation of its outline plan on 31st May gives sufficient time for it to be considered by the public before the public inquiry on 17th September.
