HC Deb 18 June 1974 vol 875 c129W
Mr. Craigen

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will publish a table showing the proportion of new employment provided by foreign undertakings in Scotland and in Great Britain as a whole during each of the past 10 years for which figures are available, and indicating the number of jobs created in this period due to new investment and the number attributable to acquisitions.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

This information is not available. According to the Census of Production, the proportion of those employed in manufacturing industry in the United Kingdom who were employed by foreign concerns was 7 per cent. in 1963 and 9.7 per cent. in 1968. Separate figures are not available for Scotland.
