asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will consult with local authorities on the effect on their tenants of new electricity charges in cases where heating charges are part of rent, with a view to taking this into account in future rent policies.

Mr. Kaufman

My right hon. Friend is already in consultation with the local authority associations on further rent policies, including charges for services.
