HC Deb 11 June 1974 vol 874 cc505-6W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services, in view of the situation regarding orthopedic facilities at Hope Hospital, and of the hardship suffered by elderly patients who have been waiting for such facilities, if she will provide extra facilities to reduce the waiting time; and if she will make a statement.

Dr. Owen

The hospital's capacity to deal with orthopedic work will be increased by a programme of capital building work to be completed in 1976-77. This includes the provision of additional facilities for X-ray, pathology, physiotherapy and occupational therapy and an additional operating theatre.

Additionally the Salford Area Health Authority has decided to establish a health care planning team specifically concerned with services for the elderly.
