HC Deb 31 July 1974 vol 878 c409W
Mr. Jim Lester

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the most recent figures for hospital medical staff per head of population in the Trent region; and how these figures compare with the national average per health district.

Dr. Owen

Figures relating to the Trent Region and national averages for health districts are not available. In 1973 the number of whole-time equivalent hospital medical staff per 100,000 population were:

England and Wales 53.18
Sheffield RHB and United Sheffield Hospitals 40.31
The figures exclude locums and general practitioners working part-time in hospitals.
